The difference between Adler / Baccus / H&R and even Irregular are explained in this article linkAre you sure Adler aren't 10mm. On the 60mm bases - Usinh H&R I can get the required 12 by 2 infantry lines and the 9 abreast cavalry models to fit. I have found some of my H&R [about 30 bases worth for each of British / French / Austrian], just the trial of painting and basing to go. Most of the old painted infantry needs straightening out - so good job I have nearly 2 weeks off over Christmas. But maybe it would make sense to use the same manufacturer - but I'm not going in as heavy as Rees.

Hi all I will look forward dropping by to watch a game or two of 6mm naps. 60x30 is a good base size to go with you can fit a lot of figures and make some really nice bases with that size I'm using 30x30 for my cannon and command stands, as for figures I found adler and baccus to be compatible. And aslong as you don't mix on one stand herioc and ros will look ok as an opposing army (if that makes sense) im slowly basing my own armies but it's going to be a long project. I have started with royal horse artillery and that's it so far. Maybe in year or two I bring my own bits along. Here's a pic of my efforts so far.

No i never thought Adler were near 10mm, just heroic 6mm (bobble heads as many people have described them). Perfectsix, Those are some fine looking models A few (cough) years ago i used to paint over black at 6mm, i remember painting the white cross and edging on some H n R Polish lancers ! But i have had to farm them out to get painted now, or it will never happen. But it does mean i can paint some westphalians or saxons for a change

Have you noticed how people are either IN here, or Malifaux or staying out completely. There is no apparent cross over of interest.

just to buck the trend (being one of the horror malifaux fans), i would be happy to get involved in a bit of Naps.. we played a lot of Principles of war Napoleonics... not a bad system but not the best either.. that being said... a few tweaks and I think it would be great! I'll pick u a few units of whatever when a period is chosen. Any thoughts about Peninsular?

Any thoughts about Peninsular? Simon where we end up is down to where the Nemesis leads. I think Rees was originally thinking Grand Austro / French campaigns (circa 1809). But then Waterloo does have a BIG birthday next year and many of the forces are easily reusable in other campaigns. At present there is a toe in the water as we await the first wave of reinforcement landing in Rees mailbox so that we can try out some of the rules sets to gage on opinion of their worth. I recall you saying that PoW did not work well - don't know why. But then when thinking about it, it may not be suitable for the bigger battles in Europe (decided by move and counter move rather than fire fight) but does work well for the size of conflicts we have used it for.

PoW is a decent rules set but i have played better. General de brigade and napoleons battles are great. Napoleons battles is perfect for a full battle. I have played waterloo with it and it was an amazing game.
PoW can be made to be quite fun. It needs some play testing and house rules though. If you use napoleons battles the smallest unit is a brigade in PoW it is a regiment usually.

Did a quick look up on March Attack THIS LINK has a fair amount of free to download at the bottom including a primer for a BIG battle version However Basing and there is always basing The foot seem to be 4 wide and 2 deep which suggest 15mm figures to me (page 6 and page 8 of the sample chapters has a photo of models at the bottom) Don't get your hopes up Dave, not that sort of model. So why not 8 figs wide by 3 figs deep on 60mm bases if French et al and 8 figs wide by 2 figs deep on 60mm bases if British? Just a thought. But 12 wide H&R on 60mm frontage do fit and 8 wide could be skirmishing.

Next taking a look at Avalon Hill's Napoleon's Battles, for a varied mix of reviews READ HERETwo of the quotes I like could be used - if you can find a supplier, as it is a product that bounced around owners of the publishing rights and one of the co-authors passed away in June this year. I think Simon was referring to a different version Pity I have warmed to this (the AV copy) - but my e-bay foo keeps failing me.

I really dont mind which rules we use, i own most of them i think i cant do the all dayers which is a shame, so as long as the rules can manage a battle in an evening at the club Peninsular- Well there you go, youve gone and done it now ! I havnt even thought of the Peninsular part of Napoleonic, only because my boards are green and my bases are flocked green, so it made sense for me to play on green battlefields. I dont mind playing any battle as long as people dont mind green on brown, etc. I do think chaz had a point, when he mentioned that it is the Anniversary of Waterloo, kinda give me impetus to get stuff done I have just ordered two more Baccus armies, so that i can paint a BAvarian army, and a Westphalian army Be nice to have another player on-board and you are most welcome to join us Simon (or any body in fact:) Chaz, we can pick any or all of the battles for waterloo, unlike you who likes to play a different game each week, i tend to play a game over and over so can get familiar with the rules (addled brain takes time to learn a new rules system

I would definitely say have a go at Napoleons Battles for waterloo... especially as they have the lists. I'm happy to get some Brits or French if we need a few extra units etc.

Last copy found of NB was going to set me back £50 on e-bay. It was the shipping from USA that killed it. nemesis _ I really would love to indulge in playing a single set for a few weeks in a single stretch. Who knows I might even discover that I'm good at something.

Who knows I might even discover that I'm good at something. Thats good to know matey, i always thought you were trying to play a different game each week against a different opponent So for next year maybe a lot of 6mm napoleonics will be on the cards I have to play something a few times before i get a hang of the rules, only then do i get to the tactics of a game. Obviously you will want to play other things but, we may be able to get to the point of not fussing overrules but actually playing a game AS IT IS THE 200TH ANNIVERSARY, I PROPOSE WE DO WATERLOO, SOME OR ALL OF IT ?? Any comments on the above CAPS, please post below if you agree/disagree/not interested/interested etc If anyone reading this is interested in 6mm Napoleonics next year (2015) please chuck a message on this thread Ben will be up for playing, but not collecting any figures as not a period he "is into", which i can understand, but i am doing enough figures for several people to use some

I think Christmas has come early
Rees
I'm in - it is the holy grill (god - what a fine album that is [Hawkwind for those that don't know])
You never know - I might even slowly retire the H&R (can't even sell them on e-bay) and build up a force of either Adler or Baccus to fit in with your collection. But painting to perfectsix standards will be a step nah a whole flight of stairs too far for my abilities -- maybe one night he will pop over and do a '' master class'' ?
I just happy to fit in with where you want to go Grand man hovering. but of course refighting that movie seems a good place to start.
Pity it clashes with the big bozzes 64th birthday - just hopes she gets Wimbledon tickets and goes there for the day.
PS Monday 22nd June is the closest club night to the 4 days of battle in a field 9.3 miles south of Brussels
