I've been looking at various software packages (free and paid for) to generate and distribute a campaign map. Several programmes spring up on Google, but they don't have the feel of an operational level map and TBH they are all a bit amateurish. Then it came to me: Google + Maps = Google Maps Earth! I've played about with it a bit and think it would be a relatively easy option to divide up northern Europe/Scandinavia into zones using the polygon tool (not Polly gone). Here's a section of Germany under NATO and Soviet control to illustrate what we can do with the software. And here is the kmz file for Google Earth if you already use it. Google Earth allows you to email images or even email the zipped files to other users (the best option). It would be a simple matter of emailing the files, each player can then save them locally and just click on the file to open GE with all the polygons and labels together. So, two (and a bit) questions: - Does everybody have a computer capable of running Google Earth? Or at least receiving emails and viewing jpg images?
- If I did it this way, would you be up for using it?

OK. Simplest thing would be for me to use it and distribute jpg/kmz file for people to use as they can/as they want.
So, next question:
Take a look at the images in the OP. Would people be happy to use them as-is to identify who owns what (NATO/WP)?

I can see it all on my 6 year old laptop with no need to download GE. No need for water cooling in this weather - just leave the laptop outside
