Hello everyone.
Yes, I am alive and well and haven't forgot about you all.
Unfortunately, because of some things that have been going on I haven't been able to attend in a while, and now it is going to be even harder for me to attend (keep reading and you'll see why).
So, some updates on my part from the last few months:
- I managed to finish painting a 50 point list of Khador for the Hardcore tournament at SmogCon. SmogCon was beyond amazing, awesome, incredible... totally recommended if you have any interest in Warmachine and Hordes. I even got the chance to talk with Will Shick, one of the game designers of Privateer Press. All in all, an amazing experience.
- Seeing how good the community of the game was inspired me to become a Press Ganger. I am officially supporting the game by running weekly demos at the Lvl Up store every Monday, and that is why it is going to be very difficult for me to go to the Club nights.
- Finally an announcement. As part of my PressGanger activities to promote the game, we are organising a Journeyman League at the Lvl Up store. Most players are very new to the game having played just a few demos. I would love to see some of you joining and hopefully getting the chance of playing you myself sometime.
I will copy the announcement I did at the store Facebook group: www.facebook.com/groups/353676118134557/
I hope to see you around and maybe be able to join you again from time to time.
Regards,
Fran

Hello fellow gamers.
I am glad to announce the next big event for Warmachine/Hordes at our local friendly game store Lvl Up: a Journeyman League!
A Journeyman League is a slow grow format designed to get new players into the game. The official rules for this kind of event can be downloaded from the Privateer Press website here:
privateerpress.com/…/Journeyman%20League%20Rules%202…
It is worth taking a look as it lists the available starter battle groups for each faction. Each faction has at least an alternative list to the contents of their starter box and some of them have even two of them available.
I will summarise the rules for those that think the document is TL/DR:
- The League will start the week of the 4th of May
- Each player selects a faction from Warmachine or Hordes. They will select one of the starter army options available for that Faction that will be the base for their list for the duration of the League. The easier way of getting into the game is to buy the starter box and don't bother with getting the separate models for an alternative list.
- Each player will be able to play as many games as he wants every week, however, two players cannot face each other twice in a row during the same week. You have to play against someone else before being able to play against the same player again. You will get 3 Game Points for each victory and 2 Game Points for each draw/loss. You will have to report those game results to me. If some players start to accrue too many points compared to others, I could end up imposing a limit of games each week to keep things balanced for late joiners but probably that won't be neccessary.
- Each player gets Hobby Points for each model they paint for the Faction they are playing (regardless of if they are actually using those models in the League or not). The Journeyman League pdf document lists the Hobby Points that each model/unit is worth. Remember that bases have to be done as well for models to be considered painted and in Warmahordes it is considered good practice to mark the front arc of your models somehow (I can give details on how to do it if people need it).
-Prizes:
Destroyer Award (Skull): Most Game Points
Creator Award (Flag): Most Hobby Points
Journeyman Award (Crown): Most Journeyman Points (Sum of Game and Hobby points)
- In the original League rules the League runs for 6 weeks and there are army incresases every week. We are going to change that a bit as follows:
The League will run for 9 weeks instead of the standard 6.
Week 1-2:
Battlegroup box set only
Week 3-4:
15 points: Battlegroup box set contents required
Week 5-6:
25 points: Battlegroup box set contents required
Week 7: 25 points: Battlegroup box set contents required, ’caster swap allowed
Week 8:
35 points: Battlegroup box set contents required, ’caster swap allowed
Week 9:
35 points: No restrictions
Mission for weeks 1-2 will be Mangled Metal / Claw & Fang
Missions for weeks 3-9 will be: Killing Field or No Man’s Land
Extending the league like this will space a bit the army increases which will make it more budget friendly.
Preregistering for the League begins right now. Just reply to this message with Faction name and alternative list option (if any) or register at the store.
For anyone that is interested but needs more information to select a faction just let me know. Demo games are run weekly (every Monday is also Warmachine/Hordes Night)
