I ask as at the end of playing Zombiecide I was asked.
So having played a version with training wheels on I was expected to give a considered opinion. I said 7
Why did I say 7? but I had no framework to measure this against -- so this is a proposal for a frame work so when your friend gives your new heavily invested into game a score of 2 you can poke his eyes out
for me 10 would mean I liked it so much that I have now gone out and dropped a couple of hundred quid on it for myself -- "Men of Company B" in my case.
1 would have to be so awful that I wish to never be remained that I once played it and I would rather stay home watching her choice of TV with the wife than repeat this experience.
A big fat zero is reserved for Faulty Kay
8 or 9 Could be: I really liked it but it is going on a wish list or Christmas / Birthday present list unless I find a bargain
4 to 6 Will play again: but my wallet is staying in the pocket.
That is your starter for discussion
Do those scores and descriptions mirror your feelings - if not what do you suggest
What other descriptions and scores would you use between a 4, 5 and 6 be? What should the difference be?
If it is by your least favourite games company does it get an automatic -1?
If this is your favourite genre does it automatically get a +1
Like I said it is an open discussion rather than some empiric study, be a little controversial if it helps to eithe r make a point or just make it funny.

I am glad you gave Zombiecide a seven, made me feel I was on strictly.

For me:
10: Deadzone, Horizon Wars, Wings at War series (from Tumbling Dice) 9: Shipwreck, GHQ Micro Armo(u)r 8: X-Wing 7: Warmaster Ancients/Medieval, Kings of War/KoW Hysterical - pretty much a Warmaster Lite 6: Batletech, but this itch is being scratched by Horizon Wars (above) 5: Force on Force series - played far too much of it in the last couple of years for it to be any higher on my list 3: Anything in the GW current catalogue for numerous reasons (and not just the Grandma Wendy bashing ones) - If you feel the need to comment on this one, start a separate thread! -1,000,000: Anything by Mongoose after their Kickstarter debacles.
And that's just for starters....

but why?
Why is it a 7 or whatever
I invested a little bit into Deadzone because I liked what I played enough to get a small force of my own. So it was that I found a bargain and pulpy B movies have an appeal to me so let's say the game scored 6 with a +1 for B movie / trading card tie in
I liked your reasoning for a 5 : WarmaHordes V2 grabbed me the same way after playing so much V1x

Oh come on! How can you give 40k a zero (it already has 4) when it is basically a game about space nazis. And they're the goodies.
They even have bad space nazis...
I have to abstain from any numbering as the dates prevent me from playing anything. Ever. It seems my roll of the die is to not be allowed to roll dice.

madphil101 Zero because that is the amount of interest I have in the game system. Some of the fluff like Gaunts Ghost and a few other novel series I do have and like but the whole 4+ and unlimited buffs, ward saves etc don't interest me. Let alone "my shoulder pads are bigger than your shoulder pads". I do play a different 28-32mm Sci-Fi so it is not the whole genre détient aucun intérêt. I do have a small (read comstar small) collection of AT-43 as that system did grab me. Pity commercially it died but it lives on in my heart and wargaming table. Range bands, accuracy stats, orders, flying trikes, walking tanks, cigar smoking armoured gorillas, regenerating machines, shipping containers and zombies - what more does one need. But some of it may be seen in a game of OSC some time remember my views are that and no more What I'm interested in is the reason for this score or that. Playability, re playability, loved the TV series, its got girls in bikinis, it uses D>6 are all good reasons for either buying in or ducking out which can be expressed in a scale of 1 to 10

Let's open this can of worms further shall we 40k four years ago would have given it mmm a 6 now possibly a 3 if I'm lucky ... but in two years time who know's! Like Chaz a 10 is stop the press let's drop some money on that straight away! A few have come close but no 10's recently for me... 1 is well that was just a waste of time... Then we have on the fence score of 4-6 do I like it or can I be bothered! So as has been mentioned I've just spent a wad on a lovely Hordes force which for me was a 8-9 not quiet a 10 ... but for me shineys out way rules to a higher extent! So going with this do figures mostly get a high score for you or is it rules? What do people think?

rules or figures?
I have some 6mm Napoleonic but seem to have spent a life time trying to find a set of rules I like
So I think I'm more rules thanr figures kinda guy otherwise I may have brought someone else's Viet Cong rather than Martin's - just supporting a guy whom I've known a long time.
Figures can be proxies for a number of games but I'm less inclined to buy into any more bespoke fantasy systems as the prices can get quite high. That can be a -1 on my game assessment score.
Horizon Wars get a plus [+] because it is a set of rules for which you use what you want / got. But I would give it a 7 ish rating because I'm not going to jump in but happy to dip my toes in and will buy a suitable force once I find something which makes me go W _ O _ W. See low entry cost can have a bearing on rating scored.
What says you all

Horizon Wars was a 8 for me because of the go find some old figures and make them work syndrome. Gruntz is an 8 also because of its flexibility and what Warmahordes should have been. But Tomorrow's Wars is a disapointing 3. It looks real shiney but its near impossible to play straight from the book! And with the Author answer of "this is how we do it"! Battletech was a 10 in the early to mid nighties got down to a 5 and is now a steady 7. The same can be said of Full Thrust spaceship game. Now one GW game that still holds an 8 is Bloodbowl the more I play the more enjoyable it's getting ... but ten years ago it was a 4 at best! Swings and roundabouts ... that's why I've got so much crap er sorry wonderful models
