A model birds nest apparently.
I'm lost as to what that may mean but no doubt I will be told

Do you suppose it's a machine gun nest for a lady?

So, Colours is over for another year, and I got myself another decent haul of kit: More 28mm fencing from Tablescape for a few zombie/moderns games Some Foundry Pirates for TLAPD with tangoPicked up my Suez aircraft from Mr Tumbling Dice... ...and some Fight's On! Suez scenery from H&RAnd lastly, a couple of Grav APCs and some building site mecha from GZG. And when I got home, I ordered some 6mm infantry types to counter the suicide sisters of ironskar.... Didn't want to eat this month anyway...

I bought spiderman from graham. George got his birds nest. That was it really. I didn't feel the show was very organised this year but that may have been influenced by a ridiculous unnecessary diversion and a busy 4 year old.
George, what was your favourite bit of the show? "The lifts"

Diary of a Colours virgin Never been before so can't compare it to past years only other shows I've been to. Went up with comstar , Harris Hawk [ she owns one, for me it was the most interesting conversation I had that day] and Yankee Ralph, good job it was not an open top car because it was lashing it. Did see 8 other Wyverns attending, but one had me confused as he was taking shinnies in (and not for the Bring and Buy) - I thought you were meant to take in money and bring out shiny toys! The Bring and Buy stall - uck! anybody would have thought that the local council organised it, maybe spiderman could have got close to it by walking on the ceiling but I gave up, they're seemed to be no crowd control for the flow of punters wanting a deckka Did play 2 games - firstly a French WW2 board game put on by the chaps from Norwich, the game was OK and not ridiculously expensive but I missed seeing miniatures where the cards were pictures of vehicles, groups of infantry and game stats. Is Plastic soldier company turning into the Carlsberg of board games? Speaking of which I did not weaken and buy the WW1 game [even at the special show price] but it is on my wish list, it is only a matter of time - my resistance is low. The other game was some home brew Kaijū mayhem, I jumped in for a 'short' meaning I had to take down a monster, not as easy as it seems when they keep throwing cars at you. Umm maybe a game to develop for shows in the future - we could do it as 'Jurassic big game safari' charging around in humbies fighting off bargain basement plastic dinos -- just thinking....................... So - to toys But first I had an interesting chat with the figure designer from Anvil Industry as you can see [a company which likes making heroic 28 - 32mm not Space Marines and other stuff - do check out the tripod grenade / mortar launcher even I nearly weaken and you know that I'm not that into this. Rules are D10 based, a free download and evolving, version 1.3 is the latest print version. Learnt a bit about the process from CAD to moulds and production - was surprise at how short the life of a mould could by. So we are getting there but first met a chap from West Parley whom does Hail Caesar and other such games - said he will drop in after the refit to check us out. From Piggy got the first wave of stuff for the new Nam game which Martin demo'd a few weeks ago. I got VC / peasants / markers and some buildings -- pharse 2 will be an opposing force, fancy French just to be different. So I guess I will end up getting US Marines Warbases - bases and spigots for the above game. Some stick on tuffs and plants for the above game - but those plants seem to be for 28's rather than 15. An airfield scenery set from Brigade for Aeronef / Imperial Skies, apparently my copy of IS and comstar models is in the post. Oh chappie said that the Aeronef range will be expanding and I should buy the Greek fleet. Another book on Naval battles of the American Civil War [must have expanded to a second book shelf by now] but forgot to go back and get a book about VC uniforms. Think that was it Oh and Nigel put in the wrong packet giving me dogs rather than chickens for my Nam farmyards. Will get them next time I see Martin Did enquire about a game mat for MoCB but it must be cheaper to get one than the prices on offer yesterday Came home cooked dinner watch the tennis and stuck my fingers together but those plastic plants are going to need arc welding Big minus point - £5 for a chilled beer, which is not even a full pint - bitter is supposed to be room temperature and that is nearly double the price I pay at club

I have watched the anvil stuff from the initial Kickstarter 2 or 3 years ago. I love the models. I like the rule system. I like the back story. I love their model tower they built but seeing it for the third time I see the construction of it now over the initial wow of it.
I'd buy in but I was planning to buy both starters when I do and I'm being really rational about will I build and paint it this year and if not I won't get it. God it's boring being sensible though!
