I played a game of Blood Bowl with Tony recently just because it was closest to me and I couldn't be arsed to get up, and it reminded me what an excellent game it actually is. On that note, I wanted to see if anyone wanted to dust off their old miniatures and join me in a tournament? Because of real life (what's that?!) commitments, and because I am fundamentally lazy with the attention span of a small retarded child, I propose the following system - - We use the most current Living Rule Book 6 as the definitive set - this replaces all previous editions for the purposes of the league (so everyone is playing to the same rules set as I know there are thousands of tweaks/home rules/teams etc).
- As people have different levels of time/commitment - anybody can play as many games as they want during the 'Play Offs', accruing 3 points for a Win, 1 point for a Draw, and 0 points for a Lose. At the end of a 3 month period the top 4 teams (i.e. those with the most points) enter the semi-finals to get to the finals - no points, strait eliminations. Draws are re-payed.
- There is no limit as to how many teams one can enter with, though obviously it reduces the amount of games that each team will see.
- You can play the same opponent as many times as you like, but will only get 1 point for a Win and 0 points for a Lose or Draw after the second time.
- The league will run from 06/09/15 until 11/11/15 (about 2 1/2 months) with the semi's held hopefully the following Monday, and the Finals after that.
The PRIZE! As per Phil's suggestion, the winner will also be the proud owner of the famous Tugerl Swan Cup (10 points if you get the joke- I didn't!)Because This would be a minor tournament, and the main reason we're playing is to get some experience and develop our teams, I feel that the prize should be fairly small (the rules say that a prize should never be more than 1.5 times the gate, and that's for the big leagues), so thought a prize of D3+1 x 10,000 gps for the winner, and D3-1 (to a minimum of 1) x 10,000 for the loser.
If you're looking to delve into Blood Bowl from scratch but don't want to pay the stupid prices on ebay, then Impact Minuatures is an excellent source of Blood Bowl-esq miniatures at pretty reasonable prices (I was actually really taken with the human team, if my current models hadn't made it superfluous). The Chaos Dwarfs are also pretty sweet. Edit: on Raphs excellent suggestion , check out Black Scorpion miniatures.

Let's see. I have Dwarfs, Norse and Amazons (although some of the Amazons need assembly). The miniatures are by Impact Miniatures, Black Scorpion & Necrom Studios (are they still in business?). I've got some gorgeous Blood Bowl play mats from some obscure Italian company. Impact used to be selling them. Each is a nice big pitch with all the dug outs and score boards along the sides. I'd be up for a few games but I'm also enjoying Guild Ball. Not sure I'd go for a full league/tournament but I'd definitely give it a good shot. At least one of those gorgeous amazons is going to need Doctor Phil's help if she's ever going to stand on a base again.

Cool cool. Sounds like at least 4 people are in (inc. Me and Tony), with Raph as a possible (p.s Raph, the reason I suggested the league points system with only the top 4 teams being directly competitive is so people can play only a couple of games, 20 games, or anything in between. Also, I certainly don't want to detract from the awesomeness that is Guildball, but after playing it hope that it's different enough from Blood Bowl not to interfere).

I like the campaign rules. Ditto necromunda Ditto mordheim True dat. I love campaigns, it's one if the main reasons I play. Haven't ever played Mordheim, but Raph has inspired me to try and make a crew. I like the idea of Deadzone's campaign too, and will be exploring when it arrives. I LOVE the Necromunda campaign - so much scope for scenarios and ideas. I just need to quit my job and ask my wife to work all day so I can actually play them all.

You need to ask the Admiral and his crew in person but I know that they have these shamanistic tokens in their collections.

my official Teams submitted for the league are:
Human Ogre,(when it arrives from yankland)
When we know how many player/teams we have, we can set a start date. If there are 4-5 players or less, then we can simply shorten the league and allow full points for 2 games agaimst the same opponent (a 'Home' and 'Away' game!).
As always, thoughts and comment welcome - I'm sure some veteran coaches out there have experience running leagues.

Once I get the yay or nay from the Admiral we shall be declaring spanking on with the league. On another note - the Ogres arrived from Impact today. Huzzah! I envisage that we'll have between 4-6 people, so would actually suggest that people run 2 teams to give everyone more opponents. I may switch Humans with another if there are too many teams of that race.

Hi all. The navy has abandoned us so it seems all interest is in. Tbh if someone wants to jump in part-way through or just play a one off against a league team during the Play Offs, then that's groovy too as we're doing it by a points system initially, not dedicated knock-out (until the semi's).
It sounds like we have confirmed -
Matt Phil Tony Stu Anyone else who wants to dip in.
If people want to run more than one team, then great. If you manage to get more than one into the semi's, you'll have to pick the team you want and allow a trusted colleague to play the other against you, just for that game.
In addition to the normal booking of games on the weekly bit organised by Chaz, can people also log when they've arranged a game here please, in addition the the win/loss afterwards. We'll do a roundup at the end to find out who goes through, but it's always good to get ongoing feedback (plus game highlights!).
I'm definitely using my ogres, and probably humans unless there are too many others, in which case I'll probably go Skaven.
That's about it, so on that note...
Who's up for a game?!

Hey I said I was interested. Just not sure I'd be able to squeeze a game in every month. I'd play dwarfs, norse or amazons.

I'll play but I'm out for August... I'm happy to play a campaign team behind the curve if I miss out. I've already added them to my November shopping list for Warfare at Reading...

First tester game with my new ogres vs Tony's new undead. 5 snotling deaths and at least 2 ogres with 'bonehead' every turn. 3-0 to the undead!

Note to self: read the rules properly! The game we just played involved snottlings getting NO tacklezones, which isn't correct.
Doh!

If I say I can't be arsed to do homework and need an evening of playing with toys of an afternoon is that enough lead in time for you to give me a yay or nay?

I need a notice made from either birch or elm. I tend to have to plan weekends in advance as I work 2 in 4 every month, but if we're not doing anything then I'm sure I can vanish for a couple of hours. After work is usually ok. Just throw out dates as-and-when. With my loss record you'd only need a few games with me to have a shot at the finals!
