Q: I can't find any rules about how battlemechs or tanks can kick, stomp, squish and otherwise run over infantry in close combat.
Is it assumed they all just die straight away? Or the oposite - they are assumed to always dive out of the way?

Or the oposite - they are assumed to always dive out of the way? Right the mech and its target have to be in the same hex. Only kicking works (stomping if you like) you get +3 to hit infantry and for vehicles normal modifiers to hit and ramdomise location for damage. If mech is prone it can do a thrashing attack it auto hits with some mods to damage and may also do damage to itself! Now im going to have some zzzz!

kicking is usual damage infantry take as one hit power armour and tanks in groups of five. The go skitso mode when on ground is all over the place with damage! ill try and type it up when i get home

What's battle tech alpha strike? It's a simplified version with no hexes, normal scenery, tape measures and more units - allows for faster playing times and thus larger forces. I've got the rule book but haven't played it yet. Below is Alpha Strike unit card, next to a Battletech record sheet for the same unit - I admit the Battletech sheet is a little daunting, but I love that level of detail. Am keento give AS a crack too, but not until I've got the BT stuff under my wing.

Q: do you have to make a piloting skill roll when jumping a mech into trees or rough terrain?

Not unless you have actuator or gyro damage

Q: flamers. Do you chose do apply the 'damage' against the armour or as heat buildup, or both?

Q: flamers. Do you chose do apply the 'damage' against the armour or as heat buildup, or both? Before you roll to hit you must declare if you are doing heat or armour damage, not both im afraid!

LRM Indirect Fire -we had some uncertainty about this one. To clarify - - You can only declare Indirect Fire if the unit has no LOS to the target (you can't use it if the spotter just happens to have a better shot!)
- +1 to Gunnery for indirect fire
- +1 if spotting unit fires in the same turn
- + target's movement mod
- + firing unit's movement mod
- + spotting unit's movement mod
Note - Infantry never factor in a target's movement modifier, which makes them excellent spotters!

I bow to your accumulated wisdom Grasshopper. Expect me to be hurling more questions at you tonight, as Rees seems to have got it into his head that I have a f*#king clue as to what I'm talking about

Is heat cummulative? I.e. Heat gives my mea h a +1 to piloting, and later on further heat pushes me to +2 piloting. Do I just use the highest figure or add the 1 and 2 together?

Highest sir

Post by stubram on Apr 26, 2015 22:27:52 GMT
So In the above instance it's just +2?

For a given level of heat, you suffer the worst effect for each type of penalty listed. However your question may be flawed, as in normal Battletech, heat doesn't give piloting modifiers. Quiet right sir

Oh yeah. It's against movement, not piloting. Corrected
