Well the league starts proper tomorrow and I'm already trying to think what I want/need to paint next. The escalation says that we can add one box/blister in April and so I thought this thread could praise whinge what's out there . I have lots of starter sets but little extras . I've got the books but not really got to grips with what more one might add to a crew. I'm guessing that most of you know the obvious (baby kades card referenced Teddy so you might want Teddy. Lilith can grow tots into young nephilim. Nicodem can summon mindless zombies, etc) but this is to kind of open up and explore who might take what.
Now the thing a lot might not have picked up on is that you can hire mercenary models for an extra stone (so you can take a freikorp librarian for 8 instead of 7 ) etc.
So my first plan for Tara is that I will add death marshals. I want to get some trial games in to see if that will work. As you don't pick until you have decided what game you are playing I don't think that we will be secretly list building and power listing (I don't think malifaux I is built to encourage it anyway)

DEATH MARSHALLS!!!! As a Tara players the first thing you should add is Death Marshalls. They compliment her play style really well and she can hire them with the Dead of Winter upgrade which also makes offensive use of the Fast condition much easier (Not to mention Karina can summon them at the cost of a RJ bu screw that right!?). Mercs are always a good choice and can often bring something different to a crew. Bishop. Taelor, Johan, Sue, Lazarus, Ronin, Convict Gunslingers, Killjoy, Performers, Burt Jebson, Gracie etc all have their own merits and most of them work well with just about anything. Whilst I'm trying to stay in faction and in theme to keep Lilith's crew fairly fluffy you guys should definitely consider the inclusion of Mercs. I know Matt is with Taelor for his Perdita crew.

I was going to, but thought that it might be pushing it a little for a beginner so went with LJ instead.

I was reading up dreamer rules and everything... I must say I was concerned that dreamer was surrounded by peons who couldn't lay scheme markers and that it seemed to rely on burying the dreamer and Tara loves buried models. Right. Off to read up lady j :-) You might like to look at what Tara's crew does to buried folks bearing in mind the death marshals pine box...

I'm actually very glad I faced off against Lady J to begin with rather than the Dreamer. Our Scheme Pool was A Line in the Sand, Breakthrough, Protect Territory, Plant Explosives and Spring the Trap/Plant Evidence (can't remember which now) which all included markers. Given only 3 models in the Dreamer crew box can actually lay these markers and that 2 of those three cannot be on the board at the same time as each other meant Simon would have been in for a REALLY rough time. Instead though we walked away after having a really fun game with a 10-7 victory to Lilith.

yeah LJ is more fun early on was a good game! question, what are we doing about summoning models with the escalation? For example if I had been playing Dreamer and gone down the summoning route could I summon models that werent part of my escalation blister?

For example if I had been playing Dreamer and gone down the summoning route could I summon models that werent part of my escalation blister? Nope. If you could just go ahead and summon whatever you wanted it would give you an extremely unfair advantage against other players who are restricted by the models they have in their model pool. Whilst other players would be at 35 or so stones your crew could easily grow to double that due to summons. This is in the rules section on the Sign-Up thread. It's basically there to prevent NPE in a beginner friendly environment.
