Hold. Hold. I will not be swayed. Bargain prices but I've not built the stuff I bought in March last year. It isn't on my to do list. I'm being strong

Sooo shiny. Shiny and new.
I'm going to order a couple of Greyhound tanks -£6 each? Get in there. Tempted by the Hurricane walker too. £18, reduced from £29. Oh, and then there's the Blood Berets, £7.80 for a squad? That is a good deal by anyone's standards.

I only succumbed a little bit. In order to keep within the organisational chart, I had to put back a lot of what I wanted, so only got another Greyhound tankette and another squad of Blood Berets - both of which will be added to existing squads

Crap. Sorry mate. I misread what you put and thought that you meant that you'd already order your bits.

How much would I have to spend to get involved? Also which faction have members not got. Or could I partner someone by buying a part force? I may just make a small investment to see how I get on if it is going to be a club campaign. I am getting more drawn to this as I find campaigns really interesting. However I could not start till March as I am booked.

However I could not start till March as I am booked. Paul If you go onto the North Star link that phil stuck up (previous page), then you can get a starter box for £20. That'll give you about 300-400 points in most cases, which is fine for a few games, tho 500 points is the 'official' starting army size. From memory - Dave has Capitol (not-Americans) Phil has Dark Legion (not-Chaos) Tony has Cybertronic (not-The Terminator) Matt had previous edition models of a host forces I have Imperial (not-WWI British) and Bauhaus (not-WWI Germans). i only really got Bauhaus to use as an opponent (and to team up against Tony's ridiculously huge force), so if you wanted to get some Bauhaus and borrow my bits for bigger games, feel free. Or just book a game up and use them anyway. There are other very cool factions out there too tho - Wolfbanes (not-Space Wolves), Brotherhood (not-Inquisition), Mishima (not-Feudal Japan). Probably more that I've forgotten

Succumbed a bit more. Looks like my treacherous digits added on a squad of Golden Lions at the same time. Oops. Power-armoured commando terrorists? They must have been calling out to me. Coincidentally, as a lot of the overpriced units in Imperial have been reduced in the newest rule book, I can actually squeeze in a few more men. Trenchers have also seen an improvement by gaining pathfinder (ignore movement effects of light cover) which, in conjunction to Trencher (can claim light cover as if it's heavy cover) means that I'm gonna have to get making more bushes and trees for them to work through.

Hmmmm.
Looks like Prodos are planning a vs 2.0 rulebook. Pretty crap considering that the game had been out only around a year. I've emailed asking if they'll be posting the new rules up for free, as I'm not sodding well paying out again.

So, people have effectively paid a small fortune to beta test their rules?

I think I will hold fire on getting involved with Warzone, but I would like to play it one night to see if it is for me before I drop a load of cash.

So, people have effectively paid a small fortune to beta test their rules? Pretty much. I took the chance buying the rulebook as it is in effect the re-worked rules from the previous editions of Warzone, so there should be no excuse! They've had 15 years to work on the poxy thing. Pretty pissed about it actually. I asked if they're going to refund everyone who's bought a £30 paperweight - not that I expect them to for a second, but there should be some kind of backlash for this. God knows when they'll come out. Some prick on the Prodos forum just asked put a thread up aking what people would like to see improved in the 2.0 version - and that was this month, so christ knows when they'll actually be out. More 1.3, 1.4 beta versions I imagine before they get to that point. I still think the existing version is worth playing - we've streamlined some of the stuff that didn't work so well anyway, but it has really taken the shine off. I've spent the last week painting and buying stuff for it!

That's why I thought you should know before buying the rule book. If these f*ckers go the way of 40k and keep releasing mini-upgrades followed by complete overhauling of systems I'm not going to be happy

All may not be lost. Been having a pop at the gimps on Facebook - they're pretty useless and won't confirm anything BUT there is a free download section for the current rules (version 1.5) AND all of the factions. I'll stick it in the 'linls' thread, but I would suggest anyone who knows the rules already to have a peak.
On plus side Tango - download the sucker for free, have a peak and either buy a starter set or gimmia a shout and we can have a game.
The 1.5 version isn't that different, just streamlining and it's free...

There's a set of downloadable PDFs for the current rules (version 1.5) and all of faction books. I've just printed of Imperial and Bauhaus, plus Cybertronic for Tony - they're worth doing as they all flow very well now. This also means you can check out the rule book/armies without committing any money (especially if you want a game using my Bauhaus forces) or else just fork out £20 for a starter force of your choice from North Star and run with it. Even with the upheaval of a review of a new rule book, I grudgingly have to give them credit for publishing all of the new versions for free online.

Any chance I could pay you for a printout? I might then be able use my Sedition wars figures. Paul No worries. Just the rules or a specific faction book as well? Don't worry about paying for it dude. The aliens would probably make good Dark Legion forces, or use the other guys for generic corporate forces. Not sure you'll have quite enough models with just them tho...

How about March 7th? Only date available till mid April. You will have to tell what forces I can get away with from Sedition wars. I have not played scify. I will endeavour to get them painted up. They are already assembled.
