Hi all. Now have tournament legal Imperial and Bauhaus Forces of 750pts each, with 250pts per side of reserves to expand into larger games.
Painting furiously!
If anyone wants to try out a game, gimmi a holler.

Mourning Wolves from 2nd Edition. Will no doubt be cheaper than whatever Prodos charge for their new version. Rather cool models, and would fit rather well into an Esher Necromunda gang... Bought!

Those sculpts remind me of the old 90s dark elves

Yeah me too, but not quite as mis-proportioned. Think they've stood the test of time quite well. I may even sell off my Eshers gangers (as they're worth a fair bit) and use these and some EM4 minis instead.

My Escher models were the first things I painted I was proud of which I'm still proud of.

From what I remember of the kickstarter I was liking the look of the Etoiles Molliants (back when the sculpts had multiple heavy weapons in the squad and more standing/less running/leaning forwards sculpts). I also liked the look of the crusader knight types from the religious faction. I enjoyed tonight's game so I might be getting some figures for future conflicts.

Yeah they've had a few re-sculpts during this launch. All of the factions look pretty amazing so depends on what floats your boat. I'm going Imperial with limited Bauhaus support for into games and combing for larger. Tony has Cybertronic sewn up. Will wants to go Brotherhood, but he doesn't have to be the only one if you like them. Otherwise you have left - Dark Legion - all things bad. Daemons, mutants, undead, monsters. Capitol Corperation - mobile, lots of shooters. Access to less individually powerful special forces, but loads of different types Mishima - close combat orientated samurai. Power-armoured hatimoto. Awesome. Upcoming factions will probably be - Wolfbanes - Technically part of Imperial, but are a faction unto themselves as they hire bemseves out as mercs Dark Eden - all of the tribes who were abandoned on Earth and left to rot. Technologically inferior, but more of thrm, with fanatical units of ccourse, all the xisting factions will probably subdivide as well

He's got the money. I've got the painting skills (allegedly). He's got the assembly skills. The two of us could be more powerful than one. But for now I think I'm just going to wait 'til Monday when I actually have money again before doing anything else. I'm pretty skint right now. How possible would it be to play a couple of games with just a single unit or two as I save up money for more and branch out over time? I suppose, for now, I should just focus on Malifaux, Guild Ball and other stuff that's "happening" now. I can build forces for the future .

You can be Will's support beard until he mans up and grows it back.
If you don't want to break the bank, you could always just stick with the Brotherhood starter pack for £30 which will give you about 350 points and either just use that for small skirmishes, or use my Bauhaus to pad them out for larger games, which works well fluff-wise as Bauhaus are the Brotherhoods closest ally. I don't mind bringing them in if you want to use them against someone else.

Our Beard-Battle will have to be conceded... for now! I've always had this little OCD where I don't like playing or starting a faction if somebody else is playing or jumping into them (With Malifaux it doesn't matter quite so much as there's a tonne of Masters each more different than the last) so if Raph wanted to go down the Brotherhood route I'd probably end up looking into Mishima, their Meka and Dragon Riders look pretty epic! Also.. Samurai with Gatling Guns?! HELL YEAH!

I hear you brother. I like my faction being 'mine' in whatever I play. It also adds more variety to a gaming group. Mishima are distrustful and antagonistic against Brotherhood, so you can call a vendetta against Raph for using them. Huzzah!
On another note, they've announced the plans to release the next Imperial Warlord - Timothy Mcguire, a psychotic genius who likes murder and torture, all from the inside of his customised power armour.
He speaks to me, and he shall be mine.

I've been reading up on Mishima a fair bit and although I'm not a massive fan of the Tiger Dragons models (although from what I understand the rules are sick) I think I'll probably go with them rather than Brotherhood if Raph wants to pick them up at some point. The Meka and Demon Hunters are just too sweet to pass up on. Even the Ronin and Hatamoto look awesome. Luck would have it I also like 2/3 of the models for their Warlords. Nozaki just looks TOTALLY out of place within the faction which is annoying as his rules look utterly insane!

Really? What's wrong with Nozaki? Do you think he does't look samurai-esq enough? From what I can tell, Mishima are the least developed faction, so watch this space for new stuff and possible re-scupts. Although, don't forget, if you don't like some of the models, you can always proxy, maybe with some Ten Thunders, or 2nd ed stuff - see attached . Or custom your own warlord.

Well Yeah... he looks like he's walked right off of a ship from Waterloo and then got himself tech'd up! He's so out of place in comparison to Hiroko and Shiryo-X. Those models look pretty cool. I do love the idea of customizing your own Warlords, everything from type to stats and gear. That will have to be done at some point! Oh also... I think I'm officially on the band wagon. I may have bought the Mishima starter last night from Entoyment. The Mrs doesn't know about it yet so I'll have to be sneaky about this one

Given what I have in the box I can probably come up with something like this for a starting list...
- Captain Hiroko (Lord) = 175 - 5x Ronin Samurai (65) w. Ki Training (10) & Path of True Sight (15) = 90 - 5x Ronin Samurai (65) w. Ki Training (10) & Blast of the Hurricane (10) = 85 - 1x Meka w. "Dragonfang" Mounted AutoCannon = 150 = 500
Seems fairly well rounded with some troops, shooting, combat, armour and psychic powers to play with. I've not had a chance to read through the rules yet so not sure if this is even legit but does this seem like a fairly decent place to start with?

I've just got one Nephilim for my Lilith crew to paint on then it's over to the Mishima. I'm gonna stick with the starter box for the moment. Once they are all painted I'll add another unit or two. I'm looking at Crimson Devils, Daemon Hunters or Hatamoto to begin with. They all look so cool! I'm also seriously considering Shiryo-X... That guy just screams badass.

Yep. The only ''must haves' are a warlord and 2 troop choices minimum. There's certain restrictions as well, but you're certainly allowed a light support unit in the form of the Meka. Looks like a good group. If you'e happy with that, I'll put together a 500 point Imperial force (some of whom may actually have traces of paint on them by then...).
Probably something like -
- Warlord - 135 (or customised, as the one you get is fairly pointless - a Ranged Warlord with shooting skills, armed exlusively with close combat weapons) - x5 Trenchers w. HMG - 80 - x5 Trenchers w. HMG - 80 - x5 Blood Berets (3 with Heavy Chain Rippers) -110 - x1 Greyhound - 100
The above actually comes to 505, but will change when I custom the Warlord.

Hiroko actually doesn't have any melee weapons at all... He has his Sniper Rifle and uses 2x SMG's in Melee. He seems fairly badass like that! As for being happy with that sort of list I'm kind of shoe horned into it as that's all the models I own. I could custom up a Warlord but Hiroko is my jam! I'e already created a draft for a custom here on the forum. Take a look here

Here's my plan. Sometime in the next few weeks I'll buy a handful of Warzone models*. Maybe a character and a single unit. Eventually I'll get a game in with them,. I'll probably have to play a few dodgey allied games first (perhaps with unlikely allies) while I save up to get a full force together. During this time I'll, of course, be finding out what would constitute a legal force... All the while playing other systems and fitting Warzone in around them . * Current wishlist is Blessed Vestal Laura, a unit of Valkyries, brotherhood troopers (probably x2), brotherhood troopers close combat conversion kit, Guardian Oblati & Valerie Duval (who isn't a Brotherhood model but is a damned nice sculpt).Any idea if those could make up a legit force sans the last model? I'm thinking just Laura and one of the units to begin with, more stuff to come over the next few months.Feb 27, 2015 15:06:49 GMT stubram said: Yep. Damn it. The Brotherhood only has 2 troop choices and 4 support choices. That's twice as many support as troops. Do the other factions have this problem as well? I want two sets of troopers with the swords & shields but I suspect they'd need a lot of ranged support. I suppose that's where the Brotherhood Bomber Plane's meant to come in. Raining down fire and fury from above. It probably doesn't shoot so much as fly over something and then attack (speed as range). That thing's probably a long way off 'though.

It all looks legal if you have Vestal Laura as your warlord, Valerie Duval as a lord, the two Trooper squads as your minimum allowance, and the Oblati and Valkyries as support (you're allowed 1 warlord, 2 lords, 4 trooper, 3 support, and 1 Light vehicle or monster in a standard list)

Point being that troops are 'standard', so you won't have much variation in them. The support section is usually the elites, so there's more diversity.

Okay. So when the Brotherhood troopers get the sword & shield conversion kit do they trade in their ranged weapons for or keep them?
