I take it in the Iron Wind Metals store, where it says.. Tech Base New: Clan Means it is a clan mech. Not just based on clan tech ?? They sure know how to "not-make-things-easy" for noobs

Sounds like you're going clan-tastic. Do you think that you'd be tempted to join the campain? The only reason I ask is that we were looking to start around the year 2990, where as the clans only came along in 3049, so there's a bit of a time gap!

well i got all the mechs in the starter box too , so i will have some inner sphere mechs to use, will your campaign progress to clan era ? Hell yes. The idea was to pick a time period to start where not much development happened to allow us to get used to the basics. Pretty much from the year 3025 onwards things start to change as new technologies are discovered/invented. Time will still go pretty quick I imagine, as I'm on a 15 month garrison/retainer and Tony is on a 30 month recon/sabotage mission - and that's just our first missions. A few dozen games will have us on the cusp of the dreaded clan invasion, but with hopefully a better understanding of mechs and allowances and tactics. having said that, I certainly don't want to exclude anyone who might want to jump in, so we could always look at running your clanners parallel i.e. Run a mini clan campaign from the year 2990 or whatever, in the clan homeworlds, and then merge them when the times converge OR (brainwave alert). You could play as Wolfs Dragoons - the most elite mercenaries in the IS - who were sent as an advanced recon force for the clans in 3005 to gauge the IS and send back information to the clans, so they would have standard IS equipment to start, but would still be 'clan' (at least to start, before they defected from the clans). OR The Minnesota Tribe - a mysterious group who appeared around 2825 and conducted a series of brutal but unexplained raids. They're rumoured to be the remnants of Clan Wolverine. OR Run a seperate IS force which could be conquered by the clans, but still retain their IS identity (like the Free Rasahauge Republic, which joined with the Ghost Bears to make the Ghost Bear Dominion, or the Outworld Alliance, which joined with the Snow Ravens to become the Raven Alliance....in fact, that second one would work well as we're currently fighting in the Outworlds Alliance). basically, pick whoever you want, and we can make it fit. Huzzah!

You could well play this first game and go 'nah, it's sh*t'. As I've got no where near Will's drive or organisational skills, I can't be arsed to formalise much. Had a thought that the X monday of the month could be 'Battletech Monday' (or Battleday.... Montech?....let me work on the that), but as there's not a formalised point system or win/loss ratio in place, guess it doesn't matter too much. Now Tony and Matt are on board, and I'm moving to Christchurch, I'm pretty much going to pack'em in as and when. Re: the campaign - don't forget, if all the book keeping isn't your bag (see link on creating a force in the campaign thread) you can still participate by being 'the opposition' to those that do, whenever you fancy. That's equally as valid.

I know I hide it well, but I'm friggin' obsessed with battletech - never come across anything quite like it.
One thing I did discover though - the game is infinitely more fun with an objective in place other than 'kill everyone', but for our first game we can just plod about abit and get used to the rules.
If you're game, we can do a lance vs lance (4v4) with ben helping out or controling 2 of your mechs so he has a direct involvement.
It shall be awesome, sir.

The difference is 'what will we get sued for'. Seen is normal stuff, unseen are the mechs that they had to stop providing images for as they were worried about copyright infringement (as I understand it they ripped off the look from a lot of Manga/Animae stuff) and the reseen is what was unseen, but they figure they won't get sued for anymore.
Simples,

Simples, Lol I thought it was something about in game-setting tech. i.e tech they had seen, and then tech that had been secretly researched, and then tech that had been recycled. And also a way of making time points that they can release new/rehashed models.

P.s. What clan mechs have you ordered? Only ordered teh two sets that Ralpatha europe sells, but i have been looking at ireon wind mechs and i really like some of the designs they have. At present i am resisting the urge to place an order, but i dont know how long the resistance will hold up Also been looking at the clan tanks, havnt got to infantry yet

ONLY ordered two sets??? Both the clan boxed sets? Christ, you don't mess around! In that case, it'll give you 8 mechs, plus the Mad Cat from the intro box. If you sub one of your IS mechs for a clan refit (the Atlas, for example), that'll give you a full clan binary (2 stars of mechs), which is pretty much powerful enough to wipe out a battalion of standard IS mechs.
I'll bring some of my clan mechs for you to peruse on Monday, to show you some other examples.

Does anyone "pin" their mechs ? or is superglue strong enough for the weight of the parts ?

Does anyone "pin" their mechs ? or is superglue strong enough for the weight of the parts ? I haven't bothered and it seems to be fine, though I'm sure the modeling types like Phil do.

Cool, dont want to pin if i dont have to Just thought some of the body halves may have a bit to much weight for superglue, also means i can crack on with them , as my drill has just packed up !

As I don't have a drill so have always made-do. As long as they're stored well, should be ok ( famous last words......)

Found an iPhone app called mech sheet which I hoped would help me understand but has left me more confused.
So I looked at a Jenner (it has a funny name. It looks funny my kind of starting point) and I can't see why it's cheaper to have more armour. There's clearly some kind of trade off I can't see. Similar load out. Similar speed. Can only think it's something I've not got to yet...
