So, due to lack of time/ability/eyesight and possibly having more money than sense, a few of us use the services of painters. Are there any you'd recommend/avoid like the plaque? I use Matt Slade at Glenbrooke Games for my 28mm stuff. Paul at Tumbling dice does a painting service for his 1/600 aircraft, not sure if he provides it for his other scales and ranges as that's all I've bought from him. Both do a good job, and are proper chaps to boot. One I'd avoid is Sennacherib/Mersey Wargames on Fleabay. His 6mm stuff is OK, some of mine still had very obvious flash left on it, but the main problem is it takes a dog's age to get anything back from him, which takes you outside of all the Ebay/Paypal consumer protection. His excuse was that he'd been ill. Fair enough, but his Ebay shop was still taking orders... I wouldn't bother going here unless your project can stand to wait at least 6 months. So, anyone got any other painters they's snog/marry/avoid? DW

I have asked Perfect Six for the painters side of the story.
He has a forum account but has yet to post or visit us, I guess it is because
Does anyone know him?

Hi all And thanks for the invite, My thoughts on being a commision painter, long hours low pay, my god my eyes are sore lol, but then again I did pick 6mm as my chosen Field, I myself work differently to many others my hobby is painting and detail I love cramming in as much detail as I can and then some I can't!! I only take on commissions I can fit in, at the moment I'm working on a two year project and nearly every figure on my blog is part of that commision, 1000s of the little chaps, when someone approaches me with work I lay out some rules, basic rules bag up your figures and clearly label if you feel it's needed add a photo of uniform requirements, I need a full list of figures and numbers and here's the price, but you would be surprised how many people won't follow these rules, bags of mixed figures arrive arhhhhh 4 hours plus of sorting arhhhhh, no regiment details days of emails to sort the commision . Now I will just send them back I'm a painter not an administrator, I will always post pictures on my blog of finished figures for approval before posting and so far alls been well . Well that's my two cents worth lol If your interested in seeing what I do visit perfect six napoleonics Regards Richard heres a quick pic of one of my own 6mm RHA perfectsixps.blogspot.co.uk/?m=1

Richard
Love the base - what did you use?
I assume they're Alder miniatures.

Yes Adler miniatures, the base is std mdf then a layer of green stuff to form the pool and slope, I use a mix of the Baccus basing system and anything else I have in my basing drawer, the pond is vallejo still water applied in thin layers, I like to base my own 6mm as micro dioramas which I feel 6mm suits particularly well.

I just wish i had the time to do bases like that, but then if i did, it would still probably take me XXXX years to paint all the stuf i want to game with I cant believe how well they hold to the "big" image photo, my figures at that size would just look a mess. Pity they are RHA though
