Gents,
See below for my response to Tim's email query to me about what Soviet lists to use. Easier for me to cut and paste than paraphrase!
We've settled on 1990 for the campaign, so your list is a bit too far in the future for our version of WW3. I would look at lists R43MA (airborne division), R69M (Army support '84-'94), R70M (Eastern Europe brigades '89-'95) and R73M (tank division Eastern Europe '89-'95)
After play testing with Ben and Rees two weeks ago, we are looking at limiting the amount of NATO stuff on the table initially to probably 4 companies with about 5-6 support elements (stands) and the soviets having double that. The trouble we've found is that if we put an entire brigade on the table, not only are the Soviets vastly outclassed, but the games never really gets past turn 2... By limiting the amount of toys on the table (drawn from your brigade lists and divisional support lists), we can actually get a game in on an evening and by using the ratio of about 2:1 for WARPC vs NATO, we can simulate the endless tide of the Red horde coming over the hill to pillage our women, rape our cattle and burn our crops. Still needs further play testing, but it looks like we will go down that route.
All of the above is a long winded way of saying don't buy too many toys!
