I think if I didn't have black powder I would be tempted. I quite like fluid play of the old rules. It allows for very fast gaming. Something which really appeals to my style, however I am happy to follow the new rules if someone has the new book.

Dominic is now painting prussians and Matt painting British, I have started my Cuirassier regiment. This will fill the heavy cavalry gap. I am thinking that Perry miniatures Line Chasseurs-a-Cheval are very tempting.

On the last finishing of the Cuirassier men. Really just the horses to do. They are primed. I have general Ney mounted figure just started to be part of the troop. Great figure. Pictures to follow shortly.

Now the men are complete it took much longer than I thought. Massive amount of work. Now on with the general, trumpeter and the 15 horses.

They are not far off. The horses are taking longer than expected. I have further brigade all primed up off perry minis. Also and I am into them now a whole brigade of metal figures. All different poses.i have put aside twelve figures as elite skirmishes. I saw a colour picture in Bernard Cornwalls documentary book on Waterloo. Plus I am going to be painting up a figure for General Soult.
Plus in my box the monster Napoleon. Plus about five other officers and general staff figures to make a battlefield diorama.

I now have two companies of Landwehr completed with commanders, a large company of prussian line well on the way, Uhlan lancers primed and a cannon. Determined to have them all done for the new year. A regiment arises. I have the old Black powder rules if you're happy to use those. Methinks the new year will see troop manouveres.

Just worked my socks off on the French force. Been learning a lot about basing. Have done a load, more skermisher on the way. Had a count up. Two troops cavalry total 30. Two battalions infantry total 60. Large skirmishes force another 30. A cannon with four crew. Commander Ney on horseback.

Sounds like a good 'escarmouche' is on the way. Finished all infantry, just the uhlans who are well on the way. All infantry are flying their regimantal colours.
You may have the larger force but you will rue the day

Half way through the third infantry battalion massive workload. The fusiliers done two six stands the command nearly done. The grenadiers six stand nearly there. Got to be ready for black powder.

I have an extra artillery piece and some commanders on the go, just basing them all with some fresh green grass (The Prussian Spring!)
Think I might be a little outnumbered, Matt I need Great Britain's aid!

Matt I can use your Brits as mercenaries from Switzerland.

Matt I can use your Brits as mercenaries from Switzerland. Only joking, we will think up a scenario rather than the traditional shoot em up, that can be boring. Fire and Sword has some great scenarios that strengthen the weaker player. This is far better than the exact amount of points per side. As this never happened historically. I am more for the spectical of what it looks like on the board. i have also picked up three sections of a ruined castle today. This can be used as an objective.

That sounds good, yes, let's create a scenario. As you say it's better when it's not an even mix, other ingredients can be added.

A couple of ideas as follows. Knock down the French command by one. Bring on reinforcements on turn three of any fleeing troops. Hold onto an objective for three turns.
