Ardennes 1944 Game Day - Saturday 27th January 2018
The Ardennes 1944 Game Day is confirmed for Saturday 27th January 2018 at the Dorset Youth Association Hall, Lubbecke Way, Dorchester DT1 1QL. This is the venue for our monthly Dorchester club and has excellent parking and facilities.
The event is a one-day multi-player game based on the German Ardennes offensive of 1944 and set in the Northern shoulder of the breakthrough. We will be playing on interlocked gridded tables with a total playing surface of 8ft x 12ft using the Peter Pig PBI WW2 rules. The day will be split into 4 x 1 hour playing sessions with 6 players per side, 3 non-coms as umpires etc, based on 15 participants. If we have demand for more places the table size will be enlarged. Each player will command a Company of troops plus Support units with plenty of reserves to keep everyone busy for the whole day. The playing table and scenery will be provided. Please bring your own dice.
Some experience of playing PBI is advisable but the umpires and more experienced players will guide you through the game on the day. We plan to hold a PBI refresher game at the Dorchester club on 17th January 2018. PBI rule sets are available from Peter Pig at peterpig.co.uk.
The Ardennes 1944 Game Day will run from 9.00am to 5.00pm and the cost will be £10 per player including tea and coffee. The day's schedule will allow an hour or so for C-Rations or lunch at the Trumpet Major pub a short drive away.
A fully detailed briefing note for the event setting out the command structure and additional rules will be issued in mid November.
