Hi I played command and colours with Pete last night. What a brilliant game, just ordered my copy. Just what I wanted to play big battles loads of scenarios of actual battles. No painting. Reminds me of time commanders.

It's great for a club night each game lasts about a hour. Might also get the napoleonic set.

Which set did you play with? I'm mightily tempted to add it to my pile of awesome war-boardgames that I don't get to play often.

I am also thinking that the game lends itself to campaign. As each game only takes about 45 minutes. It could be played if a table has finished their game early.

Went round Petes today. Played a huge battle with two boards the battle of Cannae. Came historically correct Hannibal won, but it was very close. I was Roman I destroyed his centre, but his heavy cavalry coming in on the left flank knocked me for six only two victory points in it.
Just ordered Napoleonic base set. It's out of print at the moment should be ready in a couple of weeks.

The Admiral and me played the battle of Zama two hours. Went the way of history with a Roman win. The Admiral won this his first game. Order napoleonic but brexit has sent the reprint game from America has pushed the price up. If anyone is thinking about it. Buy the stock that is in this country now.

Now got Napoleonic and all stickers have been done as well as all prep now ready to go. Just got to sleeve up the cards. More complex than ancients but looks great. Can't wait to get into it.

Four hours for the preparation the rules include infantry going into square with a loss of a command card you get it back when the unit goes back into line. The command cards are in two sections orders and tactics, which makes it more complex. The scenery is simular to ancients but has far more effect on the game. Plus there is two types of artillery horse and foot.

After playing this for while, I am thinking that you could take this forward to be used in any system. I have now three Napoleonic and two ancient armies representing 10 M figures on blocks. This uses a hex system, but you could put them on a table top and play any huge battle out there.
A bit mind blowing. To have all this and not take a lifetime painting

there is a temptation. Once I've finished my current madness and I'm a burnt out husk from trying to paint entire armies in 3 different scales for 4 different game systems, I think this will be a refreshing change!
