I was asked last Monday about markers needed to play TW, so thought I'd put it here for those that weren't in on the conversation
We (Tim/Sim/Jim &I) currently use markers for Over-watch (or Reserved Fire Mode), Stunned, Destroyed and Activated. A marker for a 'broken' formation would be useful too, as would markers to indicate units attacked by artillery and/or air assets.
Additionally, there are two sizes of smoke markers required. Size depends on the type of artillery delivering it and is detailed in the rules, which I don't have at my desk ATM. So far we've neglected to use smoke as we prefer to deliver HE rather than hide behind a smokescreen!
Lastly, some form of 'dug-in' marker would be handy. We've found that when using prepared defences, it's useful to have something that marks the defences themselves rather than mark the vehicle as 'dug-in'. This enables you to use the defences again once your broken company regains its senses and turns back around to fight the bad guys.

Are we going to have club agreement on what colour marker means what?
black cotton wool and smoke screens are covered in the book, however if I put a red token behind something would you know if it is on Over-watch (or Reserved Fire Mode), Stunned, Destroyed, Activated or a 'broken' formation. Then if Tim puts a red token behind a unit does it mean the same thing?
Dave, you and Tim must have some understanding on this so what colour do you use for what and I propose that we all do the same.
Over-watch (or Reserved Fire Mode) = Stunned = Destroyed = tuffed of blacked cotton wool Activated = Broken formation =
I will do the same as Hal, oversized card with a mound on 3 sides to show where the dug-in position in. It is down to the player to put their unit into it to gain the benefits.
PS Hills
Mine a very low but I have a good number and they do stack. We used to play (years ago now) that is line of fire crosses one level from firer to target then you get hull down / dug-in

Chaz, ATM we just use tiddly winks. White is Activated Red is a killed unit (remove the unit and leave the tiddly wink) Yellow is Suppressed Blue is a compulsory move for the next activation (either from breaking or counter-battery fire) Plus you need two more to indicate if a unit has come under air/arty fire (different morale modifiers, so you can't use the same ones!) Like I said earlier, never used smoke, but I think that will change I was going to get some Litko stuff after pay day as it looks good enough for the job. At the end of the day, I'm not too fussed about what markers we use. I'm sure we've all got our own preferences and we should just agree what means what before a game or as needed. I just put this post up as Ben was asking about them. I think he was concerned because he came in at the end of a turn and there were markers everywhere! I like Hal's idea, although I have seen someone making markers out of 6mm scale sandbags from Leven Miniatures, which looks super-cool as my lad would say! Look under 'Military' at the very bottom of the page. DW
