Every army list has an'upgrades'section where you can buy more/different units for the main formation.
Do these upgrades get treated like they're part of the main formation I.e. they have to keep within 5mm and get effected by blast markers etc?

Yay, our own Epic thread. Support formations are formations in their own right. Company upgrades must stay with the company. eg: Steel Legion formations come in two types: companies and support formations. Each company you include in the army allows you to field any two support formations. Although you can only take a support formation if you first take a company, they are treated as separate independent formations during a battle and do not have to move around together. For example, taking a Steel Legion Tank Company would entitle you to take two formations from the support formation chart. If you decided to take an artillery battery then it and the tank company would operate as two seperate formations. In addition, companies may be given up to three company upgrades. Each type of upgrade can only be taken once by a company (ie, an infantry company could have an Ogryn and a Sniper upgrade, but not two Sniper upgrades). Upgrades are added to the company and are not a separate formation. Support formations may not be given company upgrades.

Cool cheers. Figured as much. Which is a bit annoying, as I want to give my company Gorgon Siege Transports and a heavy weapons platoon, such would get left behind so won't work. Dang it.

I've had a sexy thought which has just roofied it's way in. Thusly -
I've got lots of 6mm infantry and cavalry of different manufacturers, styles etc. Would look a bit pants all stuck together (especially with the different stands), so I've made a Death Korps army with the old stuff. Looks good. Fine.
BUT - I like Chimeras, snipers, orgyns, sentinels and lots of other things that the 'Korps can't have.
SO - I've pulled out all of my chaos stuff, and am now making a chaos traitor/cultist army. Neatly using all of my remaining stuff, all attached to huge great slathering daemons. It'll also give me two separate armies to induct newbies.
Think Slannesh will be my chosen patron. It's also more fun to paint than bloody black. May throw in a spot o' Nurgle if the mood strikes. It also means that I have a use for all of the old Chaos Trolls and Minotaurs (remember them?!) as Giant Mutants for the coven.
Oh Chris, what have you started....

And you will need them! Following the glorious forces of Ironskar's tactical retreat to draw you into a crossfire of slaughter in 2 weeks. It will be all the obviously chaotic Mecharious forces (who pretended a Scout Titan was a Warlord!)deserve!

. I think Epic may just be coming back as one of my favourite games.
The mistakes we made that I noted are -
Warhound having the shields of a Warlord (not a rules issue as such, just a cock up!)
My Demolishers were actually a company upgrade, so should have been with the infantry company
Withdrawal - i misread it. It says that the broken unit MAY immediately move twice its movement IN ANY DIRECTION, it just can't end up 15cm of an enemy unit. So that means a broken unit could actually stay put if it's not 15cm of an enemy, though you can't give it any orders until it regroups, and any further shots will start wiping out units. This also explains why there are no rules for broken units fleeing the table - it doesn't happen. They either move out of 15cm or are destroyed.
Broken Units - can't be given any orders, including Marshal (which allows an extra regroup during the turn).
That's all I can think of. Will add more if I come across them.
Need those blinking horses to come through so I can get cracking on 2000 pts. Hopefully more!
In the meantime, I have all I need for the cultists, so may focus on them instead.

Maaaay be ordering from Baccus again soon. I thought I was doing well with my 1000-1500 point army. Couple of infantry companies, couple of heavy tank squadrons, some artillery. S'an army, right?
Turns out I've been playing skirmish too long. I need waaaaay more to make a proper army, and am looking at this Great War German infantrymen. Sodding VAT and P&P doubles the price tho. Let me know if anyone is planning an order, prob next month at this rate.
