Yes £22 for 15/16 or buy 3 and they become £20 per pack. Metals. I know! A little gem my friend linked to me this morning. There are 2 Saxon packs. 2 Viking packs. 2 Arthurian packs. Lovely models, but they're all armed to the teeth so looks like the would be good for only the elites. On another note, I'm On the prowl for cavalry for the Saxons, plus celtic for the Welsh (who I'm going to make the rest of the models into). Warhames Factory do Celtic Cavary and German Cavalry (could work as Saxons), but you've still got those stupid lego hands to deal with.

It seems like Levys are not that favoured, and when the are used, they're left in large units. Levy can be VERY useful (especially in 6+ point games), just keep them out of combat. What about te Saxon ability to arm Levys with spears? Is it good to have masses of cheap combat infantry or are that always going to get drubbed so just stick to bows and slings?

Are these playable faction choices based on their strengths/weaknesness (I'm trying to decide before putting the models together as I only have limited combinations/options)
Anglo Danes 1 Warlord 4 Hearthguard Dane Axes 4 Hearthguard Dane Axes 4 Hearthguard 4 Hearthguard 4 Hearthguard 12 slinger Levys
Welsh 1 Warlord 4 Hearthguard 4 Hearthguard 4 Mounted Hearthguard 8 Warriors 8 Warriors 8 warriors

They are both very hearthguard heavy matey! I would recomend two to three units in Danes force and max two in Welsh otherwise you become a real glass cannon! Warriors should be your base for either faction. Just remember that Welsh armour is crap and mounted is even worse when being shot at Give it a go with them forces but you may find your self going to struggle Remember when the warlord takes hits either warriors or hearthguard can take a hit if in range and you get twice the troops for warriors over hearthguard! Also both only have one hit point. Yes they have better armour but a hit is still a hit! If you are going to field that many hearthguard you may want to put them in group's of six to give them a bit more staying power. It's a good fun game which can be good to try out different warbands

Cheers white man.
I suspected as much. May have to get another Dark Age Warrior set to break it up and give me more warriors and levys.

Ok, have scrapped last idea as I think I was forcing bad choices to try and use all of my models. Have instead focused on making 1 usable faction, with the option of using the same models to make a different one (once my Riders of Rohan arrive, giving me my mounted Saxon Warlord and 4 Hearthguard).
Anglo Danes 1 Warlord 4 Hearthguard Dane Axes 4 Hearthguard Dane Axes 4 Hearthguard 8 Warriors 8 Warriors 12 slinger Levys
Anglo Saxon 1 Warlord Mounted 4 Hearthguard Mounted 4 Hearthguard 8 Warriors 8 Warriors 12 slinger Levys 12 spearmen Levys

That's a better mix sir With the Danes you could put them hearthguard into two unit of six one with Dane axes other normal and still have six dice to start with

Good call. I guess I have to decide whether the army I make will be fixed (i.e. Will always take 6 dane axe, 6 normal) or whether I want to be able to 'slot' units together as and when and so just take them in their existing numbers of 4,8,12 and jimmy something out of it.

I have to admit, I just thought you were being really smug and not telling anyone. Cool website. Couldn't see any pics of the, for example, Welsh spearmen.

I'm now a Saga newbie as well, gone to the Middle East as its a hot topic at the moment and brought myself the Mutatawwi'a.
Camels and more camels oh yes bring it on, no idea if they are good but the young lady selling them to me said they were, could have been distracted by the actual lady gamer selling them but I went with what she said lol...

Excellent mont blanc. Gimma a holla and we'll game the shizzle out of it.
I've only got darkage stuff at the mo, but I'm sure we can do a surreal crossover. Or I can be Varangians. Huzzah!
