Since getting the part work I have been thinking of having a small army of plague marines, I have had so much fun painting the six from the part work. So after some investigation I have gone for (know no fear) starter set. Superb value. Just 40 quid from lvl up. I will not be paying 7.99 on small amounts of figures. However I might be tempted if there was a plague marine vehicle.
It has the rules thirty one figures and stats for everything. So that's me done for Warhammer.

I am thinking that I will paint the space marines white to match the white scars. I read that they will have an additional speed power can anyone shed some light on that. I am doing them white to cut the painting time down.

Ok it's just I really don't want paint them blue. How about Salamanders or dark angels?

Salamanders are green. They have charcoal black skin and red eyes. Dark angels are a traitor legion... dark green and wear robes.
Frankly you can be anything you like colour wise. Pick one and get stuck in. There were 20 legions to start, 2 “disappeared” its complicated... 8 went bad (world eaters, death guard, Luna wolves, emperors children, thousand sons, iron warriors, word beaters and night lords) Dark angels weeeelllll that’s tricky. “Loyalist” The rest : ultramarines (blue), imperial fists (yellow), space wolves (grey), blood angels (red), raven guard (black), salamanders (green), iron hands (silver) So the emperor has a big fight it goes apocalyptic and the EMPRAH gets wounded winning. The head of the ultramarines steps in with a space marine rule book and breaks up the legions into chapters so no one can be strong enough to take control again. Limits a chapter to 1000 marines (ish) and so you have the second founding. From that you get new marine chapters: Crimson fists, flesh tearers, blood drinkers, Black Templar’s and loads more. All have different colour schemes. Since then they have been multiple more groundings and most recently new super space marines - the primaris. So you can pick a chapter and pain them however you like. There’s some cool chapter ideas. Red scorpions are cool. There’s tiger warriors. There’s red corairs who were loyalist then went bad. There’s loads of options.

I am drawn towards space wolves as they are grey the same colour as my primer. Are they goodies or baddies. I am always a baddie.

Ah ha, I have now seen you can paint however you like. So rift warriors for me, white with a bit black for highlights, using the same weapons as space marines. No extra cost. Got fifteen from an old game so army up to 31 with space captain. There are still a couple of copies of number one around. So cobbled together a very sizeable army for less than 30 quid.

In my quest to build a 50 fp army on a budget I just bought another two copies of issue one complete and another copy of number two. Cleared out castle point. So now I have two fifty fp armies for a total of Firty five quid. Just to let you all know the issue after the lieutenant will be the same plague marines as issue two with no extras. So pleased I found the last copy of issue two. Has anyone got the codex for plague marines?

Issue 6 does not give you a Chaos champion but... 3 Death Guard - better value for money another title for tango to clear the shelves of but only after I've got mine

The issue after the re-released Plauge Marines has 2 washes in it -- doubt if WHS will still be carrying it by then. one being Nuln oil and I forget the other
Saw this weeks lack lusta issue and thought that single blue sprue is clearly over priced.

There is a Liberian after that. That is good value as the figure is normally sixteen pounds

For a soldier yes. For a limited edition primaris lieutenant? Not so much. Only over priced in so much as it’s a toy plastic soldier...

Does anyone know how many plague marines make a kill team?
|
|
|
Post by madphil101 on Oct 13, 2018 5:48:02 GMT
A kill team is 100 points. A death guard marine is 14 and the specialist, gunner and champ are an extra point at 15 each. Add an average of 3 points for a specialist melee weapon, cleaver is 4 power fist is 4 axe is 2, special weapons for shooting are 3 or 4 (Bolter, grenade, plague knife are all free) so plasma is 3, blight launcher is 3. Poxwalkers are 3 points. So the 3 plastic ones you start with are Champ(15) power fist (4) plasma gun (3) [22] Heavy (15) blight launcher (3) [18] Death guard marine (14) Bolter (0) plague knife (0) [14] 6 poxwalkers (18)
Subtotal 72 Hope that helps

Great thanks, I bought the know no fear box set. So my options are better. Also I have space marines, but I want them to turn traitor what's the best way to go about the paint job and what fraction would they fit into?

Post by madphil101 on Oct 13, 2018 14:42:33 GMT
Well you can make them look as loyalist or traitor as you like. They might be just turned or thoroughly corrupted. Just turned to the path of chaos might have them doing bad things but still think they are loyalist so Aquila still represented etc. Long term turned would deface the eagles on their armour and add chaos signs / get mutations.

So the way to do this would be to smash them up a bit. I don't want them pristine. Use a use scalpel and a small drill turn them into legion of the damned. Armoured plated and fire should do the trick. The weapons can be the same. As primaris marines. Giving me much more flexibility doubling the point value.

Loyalist marines can be damaged and weathered. Imagine these are king Arthur’s knights. Whilst they are loyal to Arthur they wear all their fine heraldry then they turn from him and become mercenaries they keep their armour up, possibly repaint it and keep it great. But they try and remove their heraldry.
